Meet Pramit Deb, a student of 4th Semester at Ramkrishna College of Kailashahar. He is a crusader of different kind. And he is alone in his fight.
Pramit has undertaken an initiative to clean Kailashahar Town on his own. He has started to clean the oldest water body in the mid of the town Katal Dighi of Kailashahar without taking anyone’s help or even bringing himself under the limelight for publicity. Soon after Katal dighi for the last two days Pramit has been cleaning Kali Dighi during. His dedication and commitment to the cause have come as pleasant surprise for the people of the town.
Speaking to our correspondent Pramit said, water of Kali Dighi is being contaminated due to lack of awareness of people. Large number of plastic and garbage are deposited in its water.
“As I noticed the floating garbage and also weeds in the waterbodies I just could not resist and thought of cleaning them”, he said.
Pramit finds out time from study time and house hold works during last four days.
If the ponds cleaning was not enough, Pramit even often goes to clean garbage if found anywhere in the town.
Pramit’s father Pranab Deb is a staff of a cloth store and mother Shibani Deb is a private tutor. They are also supportive of their son’s extra ordinary social service.
“In fact, we came to know from neighbors that Pramit was involved with good work. We are happy that he is spending his leisure time in something good and for a social cause. We are proud of him”, says his mother.
Pramit says, he is inspired by Swami Vivekananda and feels that all should come forward to do something –even in small ways-that will help the society and schools colleges can take some initiative to instill this sense to the young minds.
