With an aim to boost the economy of tribal communities and to create employment generation by harnessing the wealth of forest i.e. Van Dhan, `Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan YojanaEntrepreneurship and Skill Development Programme (PMVDY-ESDP)) is being organized by Multi Technology Testing Centre (MTTC) and Vocational Training Centre(VTC), College of Fisheries, Central Agricultural University (Imphal) in collaboration with Tribal Welfare Department and Tripura Rehabilitation Plantation Corporation Limited (TRPC Ltd.) under the sponsorship of the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED), Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Union Government.
The “Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Yojana-Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Programme (PMVDY-ESDP)” is formally launched on Friday at Guna Pada Jamatia Memorial Hall, Killa RD block. The programme has been inaugurated in presence of Pranajit Singha Roy, Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Mevar Kumar Jamatia, Minister of Tribal Welfare, Krishnadhan Das, MLA,Bamutia Constituency & Member of Board of Directors of TRIFED and Ram Pada Jamatia, MLA present as Guest of Honour. P. Rao, Managing Director, TRPC Ltd. also attended the programme as Special Guest. Besides, Prof. Ratan Kumar Saha, Dean, College of Fisheries, Tripura, Dr. Ashok Chhetri, State Coordinator, PMVDY-ESDP and Dr. Mahesh B. Tengli, District Coordinator, PMVDY-ESDP were also present.
Under Van-Dhan Vikash Karyakaram, Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED) in partnership with Ministry of MSME is implementing “Prime Minister Van Dhan Yojana-Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Programmes (PMVDY-ESDP) aiming at capacity building of tribal entrepreneurs engaged in Van-Dhan Yojana.It is a six-week training activity and is expected to impart special entrepreneurship skills for SHG leaders engaged in new livelihood enterprise creation and rural enterprise development. This is a product-cum-process oriented activity-based programme.
PMVDY-ESDP is a unique program to make tribals of India “Aatmanirbhar”, focusing to bridge the gap between tribal entrepreneurs and urban markets. The training under the programme comprises of exposure through on-site demos on best practices in manufacturing, Total Quality, Hygiene, and standards to be followed in the market. The expected outcome shall be successful, aspiring and confident tribal entrepreneurs ready to compete with the best products in the market with feasible business plans.
Under PMVDY-ESDP, trainings will be conducted at 29 different Van-Dhan Vikash Kendra Cluster (VDVKC) across Tripura covering all eight districts.
