As the assembly elections drawing nearer , clashes among the political rivals were also increasing and spreading across the state.
While TIPRA Motha and BJP clashed in Karbook area in which one persons Saltha Mog was seriously injured, unidentified miscreants-allegedly ruling party workers- broke into Kalyanpur Congress office and ransacked it. A bus carrying the CPM supporters were also attacked while they were returning home after attending the party rally at Swami Vivekananda Maidan. The incident took place at Shantirbazaar in which one CPM cadre Jhantu Sil was injured.
Reports reaching here said that Saltha Mog a TIPRA Motha supporter was attacked by some BJP workers on Thursday night at Thanto Mogpara in Karbook. The assaulting group was led by one Kritimjoy Reang. Police atrrested Reang and Mog was admitted in hospital.
The Congress in Kalyanpur alleged that their office was vandalized by the suspected BJP workers at midnight following a Congress programme in the day. The party leaders alleged that they had also lost some chairs while many other furniture were damaged by the miscreants who broke into the office. The Congress workers gave deputation to the Kalyanpur police station demanding immediate arrest of the culprits.
The CPM workers who were returning to Silachari in a bus were attacked at Shantirbazaar. One person was injured in the attack.
There were also reports of serious tensions brewing among some very sensitive areas in the interiors where TIPRA Motha held sway. The BJP Janajati morcha was also trying to make a foray into the TIPRA Motha strongholds before the assembly elections.
