Amtali Police, in collaboration with Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, se ized approximately 40,000 yaba tablets along with a 7.65 caliber pistol and a loaded magazine from a residence in the Matinagar area. The market value of the recovered drugs is estimated to be around Rs 20 lakh.
Acting on a tip-off from reliable sources, law enforcement officials raided the house of 59-year-old Abu Salem Bhuiyan on Friday. West Tripura Superintendent of Police Kiran Kumar confirmed the seizure and arrest.
“We received a tip-off about the illegal storage of contraband items and arms. With the help of BSF personnel, we raided the residence and recovered a huge cache of yaba tablets and a pistol with five live rounds,” Kumar stated.
Abu Salem Bhuiyan has been arrested and produced before the court, with police seeking remand for further interrogation. This operation marks a significant victory in the ongoing battle against drug trafficking and illegal arms in the region.
