Dakor railway station in Gujarat gets a spiritual and modern makeover under PM Modi’s Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The station now reflects the cultural essence of Lord Ranchhodrai’s temple, offering modern amenities, double-line connectivity, and heritage architecture, making it a true cultural destination for pilgrims and tourists.

The historic Dakor railway station in Gujarat’s Kheda district has undergone a remarkable transformation under the Central Government’s ambitious Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, emerging as a vibrant cultural and spiritual landmark. The revamped station now stands as a proud fusion of faith, heritage, and modern infrastructure—earning praise from locals and pilgrims alike.

Dakor, revered as a prominent pilgrimage destination and the sacred abode of Lord Ranchhodrai, has always drawn thousands of devotees every year. Now, the town’s spiritual identity is mirrored in its upgraded railway station, which has been designed to reflect the architectural elements of the iconic Ranchhodrai Temple. This thoughtful integration of cultural heritage and modern convenience has elevated Dakor’s status not just as a transit hub, but as a destination in itself.

The transformation has brought tangible benefits. From improved infrastructure and aesthetics to better passenger amenities, the changes are being enthusiastically welcomed. Rakesh Tamboli, a resident of Dakor, shared his admiration for the redevelopment, saying, “There’s a massive difference now. The station is unrecognisable compared to what it was. It truly feels like a world-class facility.”

Mayur Purohit, another local resident, expressed gratitude towards the government, noting, “The government has invested over ₹60 lakh in Dakor’s redevelopment. We now have clean drinking water, comfortable waiting rooms, a children’s play area, and beautiful paintings of Lord Krishna. This is no longer just a station—it’s a cultural destination.”

Ashok Kumar Sinha, Station Master of Dakor, highlighted the technical upgrades that have improved connectivity and efficiency. “Previously a single-line station under the Anand-Gujarat zone, Dakor has now become a double-line station since November 23 last year. We also have coach indicators and Krishna-themed artwork that makes the station feel welcoming and spiritually rich.”

The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, spearheaded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to redevelop over 1,300 railway stations across India. The scheme focuses not just on beautification, but on enhancing accessibility, incorporating local heritage, and integrating stations into broader urban transport networks. Importantly, it also considers the needs of the differently abled and aims for seamless connectivity.

On May 22, PM Modi will virtually inaugurate several redeveloped stations across India, including five from Gujarat’s Vadodara division: Dakor, Karamsad, Derol, Kosamba, and Utran. Each of these stations has been uniquely designed to reflect the local culture and regional priorities—with Dakor standing out as a shining example of how faith and infrastructure can coexist harmoniously.
