Tamil Nadu BJP lauds PM Modi‘Yoga Andhra’ initiative aimed at creating a nationwide yoga culture. With 1 million practitioners and global ambitions, the movement promotes health, wellness, and unity, as states like Andhra Pradesh lead the way. Yoga is seen as vital to India’s future well-being.
In a powerful endorsement of the central government’s commitment to health and wellness, Tamil Nadu BJP spokesperson and senior party leader ANS Prasad has hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Yoga Andhra’ initiative as a transformative national movement. According to Prasad, the movement aims not just to promote yoga in Andhra Pradesh, but to inspire a strong and sustained yoga culture across all Indian states — one that can serve as a global model for health and well-being.
Speaking in a public statement on Saturday, Prasad said the initiative seeks to build a vast network of 1 million yoga practitioners, reinforcing India’s leadership in the global wellness space. “This movement showcases India’s potential to become a global leader in promoting yoga and wellness, aligning with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a healthy and happy India,” he emphasized.
Highlighting the role of state leadership, Prasad praised Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for his successful implementation of the Prime Minister’s vision. “Chandrababu Naidu has shown how states can take the lead in health revolutions. His proactive support for the movement in Andhra Pradesh sets a powerful precedent for the rest of the country,” he said.
The recent International Day of Yoga (IDY) celebrations in Visakhapatnam, Prasad noted, perfectly reflect India’s commitment to global well-being. “This celebration is not just symbolic but an expression of India’s strategic vision to emerge by 2047 as a global leader in health and happiness,” he added.
Prasad called upon people across India to unite in embracing yoga as an essential part of their daily lives. “By making yoga a routine practice, we ensure its numerous benefits reach every corner of the nation. This is how we can collectively pay tribute to the Prime Minister’s initiative, which has inspired state governments, chief ministers, and officials to actively promote yoga.”
He reiterated the many health benefits of yoga, calling it an integral part of Indian heritage. “Yoga combines physical postures, breathing techniques, and meditation. Regular practice boosts blood circulation, prevents joint and cartilage breakdown, reduces blood sugar, and most importantly, alleviates stress and fatigue. These benefits can significantly improve one’s quality of life,” Prasad said.
He also underlined yoga’s growing global influence since the International Day of Yoga was established in 2015, following PM Modi’s appeal at the United Nations. “Today, yoga is celebrated and practiced worldwide, symbolizing India’s contribution to global wellness. This recognition shows the relevance and importance of yoga in modern times,” he said.

ANS Prasad emphasized that yoga is more than a health practice — it is a unifying force that has the power to bring people together for a shared purpose. “Let us join hands to realize the Prime Minister’s vision of a healthy India, where yoga is embedded in our culture. By doing so, we not only improve our individual lives but also build a stronger, healthier future for generations to come.”
The BJP leader concluded by urging collective action. “This vision can only be realized through unity. Together, we can build a nation where yoga is embraced by all, leading to a society rooted in wellness, happiness, and resilience.”
