Kolkata/UNI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave his consent to participate in the Gita Path celebration, to be chanted by over a lakh of people in unison at the massive Brigade Parade Ground in the city on December 24, BJP West Bengal unit president Sukanta Majumdar said on Saturday.

Talking to reporters here, he said a delegation of the Lokha Kontay Gita Path Committee visited the National Capital on Friday to invite Modi to join in the Gita Chanting celebration and he readily accepted our invitation.

Incidentally, the Gita path is being organised in Bengali with a chorus of voices of lakhs of people at Brigade Parade Ground, considered a significant move to unite the saffron forces ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha poll.

Over 1,20,000 people have already registered to join the celebration of the Gita Path, first of its kind in Bengal, a BJP official said.

The city of Kolkata, the former capital of India in the British Raj, usually gets decorated and illuminated in almost all the iconic sites and structures during the Chusmas weeks and New Year celebration, would add a unique celebration on the eve of Christmas.
