Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated a Pradhan Mantri Janaushadhi Kendra at Agartala Railway Station on Wednesday, alongside 17 other similar outlets at various railway stations across India. Located adjacent to Platform No. 1, the Agartala Kendra occupies an 11.25-square-meter area, offering affordable, quality medicines as part of the Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP).
Rajya Sabha MP and BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee, along with Councilor Uday Bhaskar Chakraborty and Railway Lighting Division Manager AK Pandey, attended the event at the station’s concourse area. Speaking to reporters, MP Bhattacharjee expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for his commitment to the people of Tripura, noting the PM’s dedication to expanding healthcare accessibility nationwide.
“The launch of this Janaushadhi Kendra in Agartala emphasizes our government’s commitment to affordable healthcare for every citizen,” Bhattacharjee remarked, underscoring the significant impact of PMBJP in delivering high-quality, cost-effective medicines across India.
The PMBJP initiative, which aims to establish similar affordable drug outlets throughout the nation, reflects Modi’s vision of inclusive healthcare. The newly inaugurated Agartala Kendra will provide crucial support to patients in the region, ensuring that essential healthcare resources are available and accessible, benefiting residents of Tripura and travelers alike.
