The State Election Commission is gearing up to unveil the final voter list on June 24, marking a crucial step towards the impending three-tier Panchayat elections. The ambitious aim is to wrap up the electoral process by the first week of August.

Commissioner Saradindu Chaudhuri disclosed plans during a press conference held in Agartala on Monday, announcing that a total of 2,650 polling stations have been earmarked across 35 blocks statewide. He highlighted that the draft voter rolls, previously released, are currently undergoing rectification and will be officially ratified by June 24.

According to Chaudhuri, the draft roll unveiled by the election commission accounted for 1,295,086 voters. He further outlined the electoral landscape, indicating that the upcoming polls will encompass 6,370 Panchayat level seats, 423 Panchayat Samiti seats across 35 Panchayat Samitis, and 116 seats within eight Zilla Parishads.

Following the finalization of the voter list on June 24, the Election Commission will liaise with the state government to determine the election date. Chaudhuri conveyed that the commission intends to propose scheduling the Panchayat elections for the last week of July or the initial phase of August.
