Meanwhile, the Indian women’s doubles team of Rutaparna Panda and Swetaparna Panda crashed out in the opening round Tuesday, suffering a straight-game defeat to Japan’s Kokona Ishikawa and Maiko Kawazoe. The 39th-ranked Indian pair lost to the Japanese duo, 21-13, 21-7 in just 32 minutes.
