The Ministry of Coal has achieved a substantial surge in overall coal production last month reaching over 92 Million Tonne surpassing the figures of over 83 Million Tonne the previous year, representing an increase of 10.75 per cent. The production of Coal India Limited has risen to over 71 Million Tonne last month as compared to over 66 Million Tonne in December 2022 with the growth of 8.27 per cent. The Cumulative Coal Production up to December 2023 has seen quantum jump to over 684 Million Tonne in Financial Year 2023-24 as compared to over 608 Million Tonne during the same period in last financial year. A growth of 12.47 per cent.
Coal dispatch last month reached over 86 Million Tonne showcasing notable progress compared to over 79 Million Tonne recorded in December 2022 with a growth rate of over eight per cent.
Coal Ministry said, the coal sector has witnessed an unprecedented upswing, with production, dispatch and stock levels soaring to remarkable heights. It said, this growth is attributed to Coal PSUs, which has played a pivotal role in driving this progress. The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining consistent coal production and dispatch, ensuring an uninterrupted supply for a reliable and resilient energy sector.
