Over 800 cyclists and fitness enthusiasts participated in 63rd Fit India Sundays on Cycle

More than 800 cyclists and fitness enthusiasts participated in the 63rd edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle at R K Beach in Visakhapatnam on Sunday morning. The event marked the formal opening of the three-day Fit India Carnival 2026, organised by the Sports Authority of India (SAI). Participants included children, parents and senior citizens. The 5 km cycling ride began and concluded at Kali Mandir on RK Beach. After the ride, activities such as a Kudo martial arts demonstration and a Zumba session were conducted.
The event was attended by Chairman of the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh A. Ravi Naidu, MLA P.G.V.R. Naidu and SAI Regional Director Vishnu Sudhakaran. Olympian and Asian Games gold medallist Jinson Johnson was also present. He said India is preparing with renewed focus for major events including the 2026 Asian Games and expressed confidence in the country’s middle-distance runners.
Activity zones for yoga, rope skipping and Kudo were set up at the venue. A live fire and emergency safety drill was conducted by the Fire and Emergency Services Department, which partnered the event. Several fitness influencers and community representatives were felicitated, including Dr. Farha Mohammed, cyclist Chandana Jayaram and Suman Mohite of Shantai Vruddhashram. Local cycling clubs such as Coastal Cruisers and Vizag@Pedals supported the event.
Fit India Sundays on Cycle was launched in December 2024 by Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. According to organisers, the initiative has recorded participation of over 25 lakh people across more than 2.5 lakh locations nationwide. It is conducted weekly by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the Sports Authority of India in association with national and local partners.
