Hangzhou/IBNS/UNI: The Indian mens team stormed into the final of the kabaddi event at the Asian Games after a convincing 61-14 victory over Pakistan in the semi-final in Hangzhou on Friday.
The national team will take on Iran in the final on Saturday.
The Indian team inflicted three all-outs each in the first and second halves of their match against Pakistan.
The Indians attacked relentlessly throughout the game to make sure that they found a place in the grand finale.
Speaking about the teams performance, Indian Captain Pawan Sehrawat said, We have enjoyed an upper hand against Pakistan in the last few years. Our performance against Pakistan was a statement to Iran. We will play the same way in the final. We utilized the semifinal to prepare for our much-awaited clash against Iran.
When asked about the impact of the Pro-Kabaddi League on world kabaddi, Sehrawat said, The Pro-Kabaddi League has been beneficial for everyone. The Iranian team possesses a deep understanding of our strategies and skills, and conversely, we are equally well-versed with theirs, and thats why the final match promises to be an electrifying and eagerly anticipated encounter.
He also had a message for the Indian kabaddi fans back home, I would like to tell the people of India to keep sending their love to us. Everyone is hoping for Gold and we will ensure that we will win the medal.
India will face off against Iran in the mens kabaddi final at 12:30 PM IST on Saturday. Iran defeated Chinese Taipei 47-24 in their semifinal on Friday.
