In badminton, India’s Ayush Shetty has advanced to the Men’s Singles Quarterfinals of the Orleans Masters Super 300 in France. He will take on Rasmus Gemke of Denmark in the quarterfinal this evening.
Shetty, who is ranked 48th in the world, stunned Hong Kong’s Jason Gunawan, with a 21-17, 21-17 victory in the Pre-quarterfinal. Earlier in the first round, Shetty defeated former world champion Loh Kean Yew of Singapore, 21-17, 21-7.
Meanwhile, ace Indian shuttler, H. S. Prannoy went down 18-21, 9-21 to second-seeded Taiwanese player Chun-Yi Lin in the men’s singles pre-quarterfinal. Another Indian shuttler, Kidambi Srikanth also lost to top-seeded Malaysian and Paris Olympics bronze medallist Lee Zii Jia, 11-21, 17-21, in the same category.
