The 68-year-old male patient, resident of Pitra in Udaipur, had visited the hospital with complaints of breathing problem and chest pain in November last.

During medical examinations, Cardiac Surgeon Dr. Kanak Narayan Bhattacharjee, who attended the patient, spotted a defect in the aortic valve of the patient. Besides, some blockages were also found in the patient’s heart.

As advised by the doctor, the patient got admitted in the hospital on February 18 last. He then underwent open heart surgery for replacement of the heart valve and bypass surgery for removing the blockages.

It was a six-hour-long operation assisted by Anaesthesiologist Dr. Surajit Paul, Perfusionist (who runs a heart-lung machine) Sujan Sahu among a twelve-member medical team.

The surgery was done free of cost under Ayushman Bharat scheme, an official press release said.
