One person was killed, 29 others wounded and 16 buildings collapsed when an earthquake of magnitude 6.1 struck Sindirgi in western Turkey yesterday. The quake occurred yesterday evening, was felt in multiple provinces, including the country’s largest city, Istanbul, and the tourist hotspot of Izmir. Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said, all AFAD teams and the relevant institutions have immediately begun searches on the ground. Search and rescue operations is now concluded and he added that there is no other signs of serious damage or casualties.
