Oktoberfest Closed for Hours in Munich Amid Bomb Scare

In Germany, police in the southern city of Munich said the famous Oktoberfest event was temporarily closed for several hours following a bomb threat linked to a deadly fire at a home in the northern part of the city. Munich authorities have confirmed the Oktoberfest grounds were shut down after a letter was discovered threatening an attack connected to earlier explosions and a fire in the city’s north. Authorities stated that the bomb threat was connected to a fire at a residential building in northern Munich this morning, which resulted in the death of one person. Police and fire department personnel were dispatched to the scene in the Lerchenau area.
