Oisho Bani Society, charitable organization of the state organized a felicitation program for the children with and without disabilities for their remarkable achievements in academic and other fields.

The program held on Monday at the Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan saw the presence of AMC Mayor and Ramnagar MLA Dipak Majumder, Editor Tripuranet.com Manas Pal, Chairman of ICA Cultural Complex Nabendu Bhattacharjee and other officials of Oisho Bani Society. Also present in the event was Chairman of OBS, Fr. Jeevan Kennedy, Founding Member Fr. Cyprian Pinto, Director Fr. Nabin Roshan Lakra Laraka, Project Manager Dr. Pranab Paul  and journalist Jaydip Chakrabarty.

Addressing the program, the Mayor  highly praised the efforts of Oisho Bani Society towards promoting and safeguarding human worth and dignity by creating an enabling environment for dialogue and ensuring the psycho – socio and economic development of the vulnerable communities.

Majumder also highlighted the role of BJP-led government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi towards overall welfare of the disabled persons.

“It was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who suggested the term ‘Divyang’ instead of ‘Viklang’ for persons with disability. A normal person like me or you do not have the divine powers which a divyang has. And therefore, they too are an equal and integral part of our society”, said Majumder.

Apart from felicitating the meritorious students, wheelchairs were distributed among the children with disabilities. Para swimmer Binit Roy was felicitated on the occasion.
