Nozomi Okuhara Defeats India’s Tanvi Sharma in Orleans Masters Badminton Semifinal

Must Read

In Orleans Masters Badminton, top-seeded Nozomi Okuhara ended India’s Tanvi Sharma’s breakthrough run today, defeating the Indian teenager 21-9, 21-16 in the semifinals of Women’s Singles at Palais des Sports in France.

The former world champion Okuhara, utilised her superior court coverage to dismantle Sharma in 38 minutes, thwarting her bid to become the youngest Indian woman to win a BWF Super 300 title. While Sharma found rhythm in the second game, Okuhara broke a 13-14 deadlock to pull away and seal the straight-games victory. Okuhara will take on the winner of second semi-final to be held between Thailand’s Pitchamon Opatniputh and Isharani Baruah of India in the finals tomorrow.
