The Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal has issued a notification imposing a complete ban on conducting, publishing, or publicizing exit polls, in compliance with the directives of the Election Commission of India following the announcement of elections on the 16th of last month. This prohibition applies to all forms of media-print, electronic, or any other means of dissemination-under subsection (1) of Section 126A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. The restriction will remain in force from 7 AM on 9 April until 6:30 PM on 29th of this month. It has been imposed to ensure free and fair elections across all 294 Assembly Constituencies in West Bengal.
