However, the Highlanders came back strongly in the second half, scoring four goals to seal a convincing victory. Alaaeddine Ajaraie was the star of the match, scoring a hat-trick for NorthEast United.
With the win, NorthEast United have reached the Durand Cup semi-finals for the fourth consecutive time. They will face Mohun Bagan Super Giant in the second semi-final on Thursday.
