The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday took over the case of three Bangladeshi infiltrators, arrested by the Kolkata Police’s Special Task Force (STF), propagating ‘Jehadi Terrorism’, officials said.

According to sources in the NIA, in pursuance of Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA)’s order, the Central counter terrorism law enforcement agency has re-registered the case, which was earlier registered by the Kolkata STF on July 10, under sections 121, 121A, 123, 124A, 125 and 120B of the IPC and section 14A (b) of Foreigner Act.

“This case relates to Bangladeshi nationals Sk Shabbir, Joseph and others, who had illegally entered India and are sympathizers/members of terrorist organization,” an NIA statement read.

They had hatched a conspiracy along with their unknown associates to wage war by recruiting, motivating vulnerable Muslim youth against Government of India as well as neighbouring Bangladesh to establish a ‘Caliphate’, by removing democratically elected government by means of criminal force,” the statement added.

“They were propagating their ideology and hatred in society by following, sending and sharing various Jehadi texts, posts and videos through Facebook profile named as ‘sekh Sabbir’,” it further read.

Earlier on July 11, the Kolkata STF nabbed three Bangladeshi nationals, identified as Mekail Khan alias Sk Sabbir (30), Naziur Rahman Pavel alias Jayram Bapari alias Joseph (30) and Rabiul Islam (22), with suspected links with the banned terror outfit, Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).

Few mobile phones, some firearms, Indian identity cards, Bangladeshi passports, JMB related documents, jehadi literature and a diary which had information related to other JMB leaders staying in Bangladesh were seized from their possessions, according to reports.
