The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) began its two-week online short-term internship programme in New Delhi today. As part of the programme, eighty university-level students from various academic disciplines have been shortlisted.
Stressing on the importance of human rights, NHRC Member Justice (Dr) Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi said that protecting human rights is intrinsic to leading a life with dignity, liberty, equality and justice. He also highlighted the significance of understanding issues related to human rights, and said that it is crucial to protect the rights of others.
NHRC joint secretary has informed that the curriculum will have forty six sessions to give interns exposure to various aspects of human rights through group research presentations, book reviews, declamation competitions and virtual tours to Tihar Jail.
