National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has prohibited non-motorised, two and three-wheeler vehicles from using the Dwarka Expressway. Prime Minister Modi had inaugurated the Dwarka Expressway recently, connecting Delhi and Haryana. Transport and Highways Ministry said that the measure has been taken as the movement of high-speed vehicles may pose a risk to the safety of slow-moving vehicles. The Ministry added that the prohibited vehicles can use the service lane provided on either side of the expressway.

The NHAI has taken several supplementary measures to streamline traffic and ensure commuter safety. Marshals have been deployed to guide and provide directions at major junctions and entry and exit points. Additional road signages have been put up by the Highway Authority as well for the convenience of the commuters. The Ministry said that CCTV Cameras have also been deployed on the corridor to check traffic violations and enhance road safety. Dedicated expressway patrol vehicles, and ambulances have been deployed on the corridor to provide a robust Incident Management System.

The NHAI has urged commuters to drive responsibly, avoid wrong-side driving, follow lane discipline and drive within speed limits to ensure safety on the high-speed corridor.
