Must Read

The Northeast Frontier Railway has launched ‘One Station One Product’ scheme across its five divisions as part of the Government of India’s policy under Atma Nirbhar Bharat. Initially, the scheme is being implemented at five stations of N. F. Railway.

The main objective of the concept is to make each railway station a promotional hub and showcase destinations for local products.

Under the scheme, ‘One Station, One Product’, a stall featuring local Assamese Gamocha has been set up at Guwahati station of the Lumding division to showcase and promote rich cultural heritage of Assam.

Similarly, at Alipurduar junction station of Alipurduar division, locally produced attractive Jute and Timber Artefacts are being promoted. World famous Darjeeling Tea (which is a GI tagged product), enriched with its special aroma is being promoted at Darjeeling station of Katihar division.

At Naharlagun station of Rangiya division, traditional Headgear, local “Gale” worn by tribal women, tribal men’s jacket is kept to showcase the glimpse of traditional costume of Arunachal Pradesh.

Famous Assam Tea is kept at New Tinsukia station of Tinsukia division to promote the delicate variety of this flavoured product.

The concept of the ‘One Station One Product’ policy was announced this year in the Union budget.

The policy aims to promote a local product from each stop of the Indian Railways by making the railway station of that area a promotional and sales hub for the product. In this initiative, the Railways would provide infrastructure and other assistance for the sale of the products at the station to encourage local artisans to promote indigenous products and crafts.
