Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma on Monday took over the charge as chairman of North East Regional Power Committee (NERPC).

A social media post from Dev Varma said, he replaced Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio as the Chairman of NERPC.

“Took over the Chairmanship of North East Regional Power Committee (NERPC) from the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Nagaland who did great work for the North East Power Sector. I hope that I will be able to also make contribution to the power sector of our region,” Drv Varma wrote on Facebook.

Akasa Air to launch operation from city Oct 21

Akasa Air, the newest private air service provider, will launch its flight operation from Agartala on October 21 next, as the updates from former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and Minister of State Pratima Bhowmik in their social media platforms

Akasa Air will operate direct flights from Agartala to Bengaluru and Guwahati routes.

 Deb said, the new air service will play an important role in developing the state’s Tourism. The new flights will provide seamless one-stop connectivity between Agartala and Bengaluru and Agartala with no change of aircraft required at Guwahati, it said.

The airline launched its services on the domestic routes from August 7 this year.

Assembly passed three Bills

The two-day Session of Tripura Legislative Assembly ended on Monday and passed three bills.

In the second half of the Session of the second day, three Bills- The Tripura State Goods and Services Tax (Fifth Amendment) Bill- 2022 tabled by Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, The Tripura Agricultural Produce Markets (Fifth Amendment) Bill- 2022 placed by Agriculture minister Pranajit Singha Roy and The Dhammadipa International Buddhist University Bill- 2022 tabled by Education minister Ratanlal Nath were passed by the House.
