Two-time Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra will be in action in the men’s javelin throw event at the prestigious Lausanne Diamond League meet in Switzerland tonight. The event is set to commence at around 12:10 AM IST. The 26-year-old is taking part in the competition after winning the silver medal at the Paris Olympics 2024.
Neeraj was expected to pull out of the Lausanne meet due to a groin injury but opted to continue with the season. His competitor and gold medallist at the Paris Games, Arshad Nadeem, will not take part in the event. However, Paris Olympics bronze medallist Anderson Peters and Tokyo Olympics silver medal winner Jakub Vadlejch will be in action in Lausanne.
Neeraj has taken part in just one event of the Diamond League this season, which was held in Doha. A top-six finish in the Diamond League meetings series standings will ensure him a qualification for the season finale. Despite his solitary appearance, Neerak sits in fourth place in the standings.
