Neeraj Chopra Qualifies for 2025 World Athletics Championships Men’s Javelin Final

India’s star javelin thrower and defending champion Neeraj Chopra has qualified for World Athletics Championships 2025 Men’s final today with his first attempt of 84.85 meters. Neeraj is aiming to become the third male javelin thrower in history to defend the World Championships gold title which he had clinched in the 2023 edition in Budapest. The qualification mark was 84.50 meters. Olympic champion and Pakistani player Arshad Nadeem is also participating in the World Athletics Championships 2025 in Tokyo.
 
At the last edition of the World Championships in Budapest held two years ago, Neeraj Chopra created history by becoming India’s first world champion in athletics with a throw of 88.17 meters. Arshad Nadeem took silver with 87.82 meters. Among global challengers, the in-form Julian Weber is the season leader with 91.51 meters and Diamond League champion, while two-time world champion Anderson Peters, 2012 Olympic gold medallist Keshorn Walcott and Tokyo 2020 silver medallist Jakub Vadlejch add further weight to the competition at Tokyo.
