In Odisha, the state cabinet is in for a revamp. According to information, all the 20 ministers in the ministry led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik have tendered their resignations Saturday. The new ministers are said to administer the oath tomorrow in the state capital Bhubaneswar.
In a dramatic turn of events, all the ministers of Naveen Patnaik’s ministry have resigned, signalling a fresh make-over of the ministry on Sunday. This is for the first time in the fifth term of chief minister Naveen Patnaik that the ministry has resigned enmass, giving way for a new ministry to take shape. And with this, speculations run thick and fast regarding the faces, old and new, who would be awarded berths in the Naveen Patnaik ministry.
This was for the first time in the history of Odisha and in the 25 years of rule by the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) led by Naveen entire ministers were asked to resign.
.Some of the senior ministers and ministers who have been landed in various controversies and earned bad names for the state government are likely to be axed from the team.. They will be adjusted in the various party posts. The new cabinet will be a combination of young and seasoned leaders .
The chief minister was waiting for the Brajarajnagar by elections and just a day after the victory initiated the restructuring of cabinet and the party.
Naveen has completed three years in May of his fifth tern.
All the MLAs and specially those have chances of induction in the ministry have been asked to remain in the state capital.
BJD had taken the Brajarajnagar by election as prestige issue, and deputed nearly a dozen ministers and over 25 MLAs to campaign for the party candidate Alaka Mohanty .
The new faces for Naveen’s new team will be picked keeping in mind the 2024 polls as some of the districts are likely to get more respresentation in the cabinet.
Simultaniously, the the speaker of the legislative assembly Surya Narayan Patra has also submitted his resignation .
