The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) in association with Voluntary Health Association of Tripura (VHAT) organized a special event to celebrate International Women’s Day at the Press Club in Agartala today. The event was graced by the presence of esteemed dignitaries including Padmashree Awardee Madam Smriti Rekha Chakma, Smt. Shipra Das, Officer In-Charge of East Agartala Police Station, Smt. Bina Debi Harijon, Principal of Shri Shri Ravishankar Vidyamandir & Social Activist, Smt. Payel Saha, Regional Manager of Tripura Gramin Bank, Dr. Sreelekha Ray, Executive Director, VHAT and members of various Self-Help Groups (SHGS).

The celebration commenced with motivational stories shared by the distinguished guests, highlighting the resilience and achievements of women from diverse backgrounds. A technical session was conducted by advocates, bankers, and representatives from the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM), providing valuable insights and guidance to the attendees.

Shri Diganta Kumar Das, Deputy General Manager, NABARD, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the bank’s commitment to women’s empowerment and sharing the remarkable achievements of NABARD in this domain. He highlighted various initiatives and schemes implemented by the bank to support and empower women entrepreneurs and self-help groups across the state.

In addition to the event at the Press Club, NABARD in association with VHAT organized a three-day “Mahila Udyogi Mela” (Women Entrepreneurs’ Fair) at Rabindra Bhavan, Agartala. The fair showcased the talents and products of women entrepreneurs, providing them with a platform to showcase their skills and promote their businesses. Cultural programs added vibrancy to the event, celebrating the rich diversity of women’s contributions to society.

The International Women’s Day celebration by NABARD aimed to recognize and honour the invaluable contributions of women in various spheres of life, while also fostering an environment that encourages and supports their growth and empowerment.
