MS Dhoni extends support to the Vande Mataram CISF Coastal Cyclothon-2026, praising national unity, fitness, and coastal security awareness. His endorsement strengthens public participation and highlights the role of youth in nation-building.

Cricketing icon and former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has extended his heartfelt best wishes to the Vande Mataram CISF Coastal Cyclothon–2026, describing it as a powerful initiative that blends national unity, physical fitness, and heightened awareness of coastal security. Dhoni’s encouragement has added significant momentum to the nationwide campaign spearheaded by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

Dhoni interacted with CISF personnel at Mumbai Airport, where he commended the force for launching a unique outreach programme that directly connects citizens with the idea of national responsibility. He highlighted that such initiatives not only promote fitness and discipline but also strengthen public understanding of the importance of safeguarding India’s vast and sensitive coastline.

The Vande Mataram CISF Coastal Cyclothon–2026 is designed to cover extensive coastal routes across the country, symbolising vigilance, unity, and the unwavering commitment of India’s security forces. The initiative aims to spread awareness about coastal security while encouraging people—especially young citizens—to adopt healthier lifestyles through sports and physical activity.

Speaking informally with CISF personnel, Dhoni noted that public participation plays a crucial role in nation-building. He stressed that campaigns rooted in fitness and discipline can inspire society at large to take collective responsibility for national security. His remarks resonated strongly with the personnel present, many of whom regard Dhoni as a role model both on and off the field.

In an official statement, the CISF expressed gratitude for Dhoni’s words of encouragement, stating that support from a national icon further strengthens the force’s determination to carry out people-centric initiatives in the supreme interest of the nation. The force emphasised that such recognition boosts morale and reinforces its mission to remain vigilant, professional, and service-oriented.

Dhoni’s endorsement comes at a time when security agencies are increasingly focusing on public engagement to enhance awareness and preparedness. With India’s extensive coastline playing a vital role in trade, tourism, and national security, initiatives like the Coastal Cyclothon serve as both symbolic and practical reminders of shared responsibility.

Away from the security spotlight, Dhoni continues to remain in the public eye due to his widespread popularity across sports and entertainment circles. Recently, Punjabi singer AP Dhillon shared images on social media featuring Dhoni and Bollywood superstar Salman Khan enjoying an adventurous muddy escapade at Khan’s farmhouse in Panvel. The photographs, which quickly went viral, showed the trio in high spirits, reflecting Dhoni’s enduring appeal beyond cricket.

Although Dhoni has retired from international cricket, his association with the sport remains strong through the Indian Premier League. He is currently preparing to represent the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 2026 IPL season, continuing a long-standing bond with the franchise he joined during the league’s inaugural edition in 2008.

Despite relinquishing the CSK captaincy in the previous season, Dhoni remains a key figure within the team’s leadership group. Under the captaincy of Ruturaj Gaikwad, CSK endured a challenging IPL 2025 campaign, finishing at the bottom of the points table with eight points from 14 matches. Nevertheless, Dhoni’s presence is widely seen as a stabilising force as the franchise looks to rebuild and return stronger.

A modern-day legend of Indian cricket, Dhoni is one of the few captains to have led India across all three formats of the game. He guided the national team to historic triumphs, including the ICC T20 World Cup in 2007 and the ICC ODI World Cup in 2011. Known for his calm leadership, sharp wicketkeeping skills, and finishing prowess, Dhoni’s influence transcends statistics.

His contributions to Indian sport have been recognised with some of the country’s highest civilian and sporting honours, including the Padma Bhushan in 2018, the Padma Shri in 2009, and the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award in 2008. From his international debut in 2004 to his retirement in 2019, Dhoni’s journey has inspired millions.

By supporting the Vande Mataram CISF Coastal Cyclothon–2026, Dhoni once again demonstrated that his commitment to the nation extends far beyond cricket, reinforcing values of unity, discipline, and service that continue to define his legacy.
