Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Dr L Murugan today said that states and union territories have a big role to play in building a modern, inclusive and efficient media and entertainment ecosystem. He said this while addressing the inaugural National Conference with Information and Public Relations Secretaries of States and union territories in New Delhi. Dr Murugan said that the government highly prioritises the entertainment sector and has taken several steps to promote this orange economy. He added steps such as Press Sewa Portal, India Cine hub, International Film Festivals, WAVES Bazaar and the WAVE Summit have transformed the landscape. He mentioned that these reforms are not just policy shifting but represents commitment to empower content creators, reducing hurdles and making India into a truly film and media friendly nation.
Meanwhile, Information and Broadcasting Secretary Sanjay Jaju said that India has lately witnessed exponential growth for content creation. He added that expansion of regional and vernacular media has opened opportunities but also raised new challenges for public communication. Mr Jaju called the National Conference as a place where secretaries can deliberate on critical issues and collaborate with each other. He added that this can help tap the brimming potential in strengthening the economy and building community relationships.
