Modi holds separate meetings with Tech CEOs in Washington DC

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today held separate meetings with CEO of Micron Technology Sanjay Mehrotra, CEO of General Electric and General Electric Aerospace H. Lawrence Culp Jr. and CEO of Applied Materials Gary E. Dickerson in Washington DC. During his interaction with Mehrotra, Modi invited Micron Technology’s participation in semiconductor manufacturing in India. Mr Mehrotra said, he had an excellent meeting with Modi. The CEO of Micron Technology said, he is very impressed with the vision that the Prime Minister has for India and the advances that India is making. He said, they discussed a wide range of topics and he is looking forward to greater opportunities in India.

During the interaction with Lawrence Culp Jr, Modi appreciated GE for its long-term commitment of manufacturing in India and called for GE’s greater technology collaborations in India. He invited GE to play a bigger role in India’s aviation and renewable energy sector. Interacting with Dickerson, the Prime Minister invited Applied Materials for contributing in strengthening the semiconductor ecosystem and development of process technology and advanced packaging capabilities in India. The talks also covered potential of collaboration of Applied Materials with academic institutions in India to create skilled workforce.

Dickerson said, he is very impressed with India and he believes that the opportunity for India’s growth in the semiconductor industry is now. He said, this is India’s time to drive incredible growth. Dickerson said, India is a trusted partner and many countries around the world see the trust and tremendous talent that India has. He said, this is India’s time to shine. The CEO of Applied Materials said, his company will be announcing soon an innovation centre in India that will focus on innovation in equipment.
