Ministry of Consumers Affairs, Food and Public Distribution has invited applications from qualified polytechnics, ITIs, engineering colleges and testing units for getting accredited as Government Approved Test Centres (GATCs) under the Legal Metrology (Government Approved Test Centre) Rules, 2013. The Ministry has noted that the application for the accreditation can be submitted online through the Department’s official portal from 17th to 31st of this month. It said the fully digital portal can be used efficiently for weights and measures by increasing the participation of technically competent private institutions. The ministry has informed that the licensing initiative is aimed at expanding India’s verification ecosystem for weights and measures by increasing the participation of technically competent private institutions.
