A tragic incident unfolded at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Bansh Paduya when a man, allegedly attempting to commit theft on the school premises, was caught red-handed and brutally assaulted by a mob. The accused, identified as 35-year-old Babul Mia, a resident of Muzaffar Colony, later succumbed to his injuries.
According to sources, the incident took place late on Sunday night. Babul Mia reportedly climbed over the school’s boundary wall with the intention of stealing valuables when he was spotted by vigilant locals. The enraged crowd swiftly apprehended him and subjected him to a severe beating. Reports suggest that he was tied up after being assaulted, left in a grievously injured state overnight.
The following morning, law enforcement officials arrived at the scene and rushed Babul Mia to Belonia Hospital for medical attention. However, upon arrival, doctors declared him dead.
As news of his death spread, Babul Mia’s family members rushed to the hospital, where they were overcome with grief. Amid the emotional turmoil, allegations surfaced that Babul Mia had a criminal background, with multiple cases registered against him at Belonia police station.
The incident has raised concerns over mob justice and the dangers of taking the law into one’s own hands. Authorities are investigating the matter, and it remains to be seen whether action will be taken against those involved in the fatal assault.
