Kolkata/IBNS: Veteran Indian actor Mithun Chakraborty was taken to hospital in Kolkata on Saturday morning, leading his countless fans worried about his health.

He was admitted to Apollo Hospital, Kolkata.

Though several media reports claimed Chakraborty had complained of chest pain, IBNS has learnt he was taken to the hospital for a routine check up.

Chakraborty, a National Award winning actor, was busy shooting for Bengali film Shastri alongside senior actress Debasree Roy. The two are working together for a film after 14 years.

His last film Kabuliwala, which is based on Rabindranath Tagores short story, was released on Christmas last year.

The 73-year-old actor was recently honoured with Padma Bhushan, which is the third-highest civilian award by the Government of India.

Chakraborty is still a member of the countrys ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the political outfit which he joined in 2021 in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
