SC Welfare Minister, Sudhangshu Das, took immediate action against employees for irregularities in carrying out their government duties during a surprise visit to the Directorate of SC Welfare Office in Gorkhabasti area of the capital city.
Accompanied by a group of officials, Minister Sudhangshu Das conducted a thorough inspection of all office rooms, engaged in discussions with the employees, and personally checked the attendance register. He expressed his firm stance on the importance of adhering to office hours and fulfilling government responsibilities.
Minister Sudhangshu Das reminded the employees that the office was scheduled to run from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm, as per the notice issued by the Chief Secretary and circulated to all government departments. He asserted that absenteeism without prior intimation and irregularities in discharging government duties would not be tolerated.
As a result of the surprise visit, one employee was suspended for consistent absence from work throughout the year, while three other individuals were issued show-cause notices for their irregularities.
During the visit, Minister Sudhangshu Das also inquired about the pending stipends of students and directed the concerned officials to release them promptly. He advised all employees to uphold honesty and integrity in their work, emphasizing the importance of bringing back a strong work culture to all government departments in the state.
Since assuming the role of SC Welfare, Fishery, and ARRD Minister, Sudhangshu Das has been conducting regular visits to various offices under his departments to ensure the state government’s call for a revival of work culture across all government sectors in Tripura.
