Minister of State Pabitra Margherita Visits Papua New Guinea, Extends India’s Warm Greetings on 50th Independence Day

Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita paid an official visit to Papua New Guinea yesterday on the occasion of the country’s 50th Independence Day. During the visit, Mr Margherita called on the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, James Marape and conveyed India’s warm greetings. The two sides held wide-ranging discussions on various aspects of the bilateral relationship and discussed ways to further enhance ties between the nations.
 
 
The Minister also addressed the Indian diaspora in a community event in Port Moresby, reaffirming the Government’s strong commitment towards the welfare of the Indian diaspora. Mr Margherita appreciated their contribution to strengthening ties between the two countries. 
 
 
The External Affairs Ministry also mentioned that President Droupadi Murmu sent a letter to the Governor-General of Papua New Guinea, Sir Bob Bofeng Dadae, conveying warm greetings from the people. Furthermore, External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar also conveyed Independence Day Greetings to his counterpart Justin Tkatchenko.
