In a significant development for Tripura, A.K. Mishra, the North-East Advisor to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha at the Secretariat in Agartala on Monday. The meeting delved into detailed discussions on the comprehensive development of the Janajati people in the state and the measures undertaken by the government to address their various concerns.

Chief Minister Dr. Saha highlighted the importance of engaging with leaders from all political parties, specifically those representing the Janajati community, to gain insights into the socio-economic and infrastructural development aspects. He requested Mishra to meet with Janajati leaders across the political spectrum, including Janajati Samajpatis, to gather a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by the community.

During the meeting, Dr. Saha provided Mishra with an overview of the state government’s initiatives for Janajati development, encompassing aspects such as budget allocation, road connectivity, and access to drinking water facilities. The Chief Minister urged Mishra to conduct meetings with the tribal wings of various political parties, including student wings, to foster a collaborative approach towards the development of the Janajati population.

In addition to discussing ongoing initiatives, Dr. Saha shared the future plans of the state government aimed at ensuring holistic development in Janajati areas. Emphasizing development as the central goal of the present state government, he sought collaboration and support from the Home Ministry’s North-East Advisor.

It is noteworthy that A.K. Mishra, a retired IAS officer, was appointed by the government to address the demands of ‘Greater Tipraland’ put forth by Tipra Motha. Previously, Mishra engaged in discussions with Tipra Motha representatives on this matter. The retired IAS officer is expected to hold a crucial meeting with senior leaders of Tipra Motha during this visit. It is pertinent to mention that Tipra Motha is currently in power in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). The outcome of this meeting is awaited with anticipation as stakeholders look forward to progress on the developmental front in Janajati areas.
