In the wake of farmers protest, the Ministry of Home Affairs has issued advisory to the Punjab Government asking it to maintain law and order, sources said here on Wednesday.

According to sources, the Punjab government has been asked to take strict action against those involved in any disruptive activities under the guise of protest. The advisory was issued after, the farmers decided to move ahead to Delhi.

It may be mentioned that Sanyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), which is leading the farmers protest in North India had rejected the central governments proposal for 5-year contracts on Minimum Support Price (MSP) for five food crops.

Tear gas shells have been used to disperse the farmers from Punjab and Haryana who resumed their protests against the Narendra Modi government on Minimum Support Price (MSP) on Wednesday, media reports said.

The farmers, who had called off the protests briefly, resumed it, snubbing the governments offer to buy a few crops at the old MSP.

Just a couple of days ago, the government held a meeting with the protesting farmers unions and came out with a plan involving the purchase of pulses, maize and cotton crops by government agencies at MSP.

The meeting was attended by protesting farmers, Union Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Minister Arjun Munda and Minister of State for Home Affairs.
