The first meeting of the Steering Committee for the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) was held today at NFDC headquarters in Mumbai. Chaired by Union Information & Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the meeting was attended by Secretary, Ministry of I&B, Sanjay Jaju, festival director Shekhar Kapur, and other key industry figures.
The meeting focused on strategic planning for IFFI 2025, with detailed discussions on programming, outreach, talent engagement and innovative initiatives aimed at enhancing the festival’s inclusivity, global positioning, and public engagement. The 56th edition of IFFI is scheduled to be held from 20th to 28th November 2025 in Goa.
The committee also approved the rebranding of Film Bazaar to WAVES Film Bazaar, aiming to strengthen India’s position as a global creative hub. This year, the Steering Committee has expanded from 16 to 31 members, including personalities like Anupam Kher, Guneet Monga, Suhasini Maniratnam, and Prasoon Joshi.
With an inclusive approach and focus on global collaboration, IFFI 2025 is set to become a landmark event celebrating the future of cinema.
