Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture, Meenakshi Lekhi, commenced a three-day trip to Tripura on Wednesday, marking an extensive itinerary aimed at inspecting key facilities, engaging with border security personnel, and discussing development initiatives.

Upon her arrival, Minister Lekhi promptly proceeded to inspect the Akhaura Integrated Check Post (ICP) and engaged in discussions with Border Security Force (BSF) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel. Welcomed by Manager Debashis Nandi at the Integrated Land Port, she shared insights about her visit on social media, expressing that she had visited the India-Bangladesh border at Akhaura in Agartala. During this visit, she conferred with officials from the Land Port Authority of India and other stakeholders, focusing on the current operational aspects and future plans for the region.

Addressing the media, Minister Lekhi emphasized the significance of the Northeast in the country’s development trajectory. She highlighted that regular visits by central ministers to the Northeastern states are aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Act East’ policy. These visits serve to review and accelerate development works crucial for the overall progress of the region.

Later in the evening, as part of her cultural engagement, the Union Minister visited the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur, showcasing a blend of cultural appreciation and official duties.

Continuing her trip, Meenakshi Lekhi paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha. During the meeting, various important matters, particularly those related to the ongoing development processes in the state, were discussed.

The three-day visit includes planned visits to various places, including Unakoti, where Minister Lekhi is slated to review the progress of various central schemes. The comprehensive itinerary reflects the government’s commitment to regional development and collaborative efforts with state authorities to ensure the effective implementation of key initiatives in Tripura.
