Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to former President of Mauritius Sir Anerood Jugnauth and former Prime Minister of Mauritius Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanic Garden in Pamplemousses today.
In a social media post, Prime Minister Modi recalled the enduring legacies of the two leaders in the progress of Mauritius and their role in building a robust foundation for India-Mauritius ties.
Following the wreath laying ceremony, Mr Modi and the Prime Minister of Mauritius Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam planted a tree as part of the Ek Ped Maa ke Naam initiative in the historic garden.
Mr Modi expressed his gratitude and appreciated Dr. Navin Ramgoolam’s participation in the initiative stating that it serves as a tribute to nature, motherhood, and sustainability. He further noted that Dr. Ramgoolam’s support symbolizes the shared commitment of both countries to fostering a greener and better future.
