In a bid to go ahead with its voter awareness programme the Election Commission of India has teamed up with All India Radio. It has decided to broadcast a special awareness programme called ‘Matdata Junction’ on 100.1 FM Gold Channel from 7.25 to 7.40 pm on every Friday starting from today. The programme with the theme ‘Power of One Vote’ or ‘Ek Vote Ki Taqat’ will be simultaneously broadcast in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Hyderabad.
The same programme will be broadcast on FM Rainbow, Vividh Bharati stations and primary channels of AIR across the country between 7 to 9 pm. citizens can also listen to the programme on Twitter on @airnewsalerts, News on AIR App and YouTube channels of All India Radio. This 15 minutes weekly programme will be available in 23 languages namely Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Tamil, Telegu, urdu, Bodo, Santhali, Maithili and Dogri.
‘Matdata Junction’ will be covered in 52 episodes and each episode will be based on a particular theme on the electoral process. All the 52 themes are aimed at encouraging the eligible citizens and especially the young and first time voters to vote and make an informed decision during the elections. Quiz, experts’ interview, songs produced by SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) team of the ECI will be carried in every episode. The programme also includes a Citizen’s Corner where any citizen can ask a query or suggest on any aspects of the voting.
