A massive 6,000 aspirants from 10 states joined the 15-day Territorial Army recruitment rally in Nagaland. The event showcased exceptional planning, multi-agency coordination, transparent testing and strong youth participation from remote and high-altitude regions across the Northeast.

In a remarkable display of national enthusiasm and regional participation, an estimated 6,000 aspirants from across ten states and Union Territories gathered in Dimapur, Nagaland, for the multi-state Territorial Army (TA) recruitment rally, officials said on Sunday. The event, which spanned 15 consecutive days, marked one of the most extensively planned and widely attended military recruitment exercises in the Northeastern region in recent years.

According to a senior official of the Indian Army, the rally was organized and executed by the 113 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) — Rajput, which concluded its operations on Saturday. The official described the initiative as “one of the most meticulously coordinated, flawlessly executed and professionally administered recruitment efforts ever undertaken in the Northeast.”

Record-Breaking Participation From Across the Region

Candidates arrived from all seven Northeastern states, alongside participants from West Bengal, Sikkim and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, underscoring the Territorial Army’s widening appeal among young people across diverse geographies. The vast turnout included aspirants from remote border settlements, high-altitude tribal belts, and regions previously affected by insurgency and restricted movement.

Officials noted that the overwhelming response reflected not only the strong desire of youth to serve the nation but also the improving security environment and enhanced connectivity across the Northeast. “This turnout showcases a new generation of motivated youth who believe in contributing to national service while benefiting from the evolving stability across the region,” the official added.

Exceptional Planning and Operational Finesse

The rally stood out for the professional excellence demonstrated by 113 Territorial Army Rajput, known for its operational experience in Counter-Insurgency (CI) environments. Organizing a rally of this magnitude required a high level of coordination, logistical precision and multi-agency integration.

From managing thousands of candidates daily to conducting multiple layers of physical, medical and documentation assessments, the unit maintained a standard of fairness, transparency and discipline throughout the event. “The ability of the unit to seamlessly handle such large footfall across numerous testing stations, over two full weeks, highlights an organisational capability of the highest order,” the senior official said.

Strong Support From Civil Administration and Police

The rally’s success was significantly strengthened by the cooperation of the Dimapur district administration and police authorities, who worked in close coordination with Army personnel to ensure a smooth and secure environment. Their support included traffic regulation, security management, crowd control, and civic facilitation, enabling safe movement of candidates and staff.

Local residents also played a positive role by extending goodwill, cooperation and a welcoming atmosphere to the thousands of visitors who arrived in the district during the recruitment period.

Candidate-Friendly Services Set a New Benchmark

One of the defining features of the rally was the extensive candidate support infrastructure established by the Territorial Army. Several facilitation measures were implemented to ensure that aspirants—especially those from distant or underdeveloped regions—could participate without procedural hurdles.

Key facilities included:

  • Dedicated candidate-assistance counters for real-time documentation help

  • Special help desks for participants arriving from remote hill districts

  • Free photocopying and essential document support to prevent disqualification on technical grounds

  • Integrated traffic and crowd management in partnership with civil agencies

  • Transparent, rigorously monitored testing procedures, including PFT, PMT, documentation and medical assessments

  • Provision of free food services, hydration points, rest shelters, and guidance booths for shortlisted candidates following the physical events

These arrangements not only streamlined the recruitment process but also showcased the Territorial Army’s commitment to inclusivity, efficiency and fairness.

A Milestone for the Northeastern Region

With its extraordinary participation numbers, robust administrative planning and smooth, incident-free execution, the Dimapur recruitment rally has set a new benchmark for future multi-state military initiatives. The event has reinforced the Territorial Army’s role as an accessible platform for national service and provided thousands of young people with a meaningful opportunity to pursue a career dedicated to defence and country.
