Benchmark domestic equity indices today ended truncated week’s first trading session with gains of nearly one per cent. Barring Consumer Durables, all sectoral indices displayed strength with Realty and PSU Bank leading the charge. 
 
 
Sensex surged 746 points to close at 80 thousand 604. Nifty also rose 222 points to settle at 24 thousand 585. The broader market indices at the Bombay Stock Exchange also closed in positive territory. The Mid-Cap index advanced 0.8 per cent, and the Small-Cap index added over 0.3 per cent.
