New Delhi/IBNS: Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia, arrested in the liquor policy case and moved to Tihar Jail after a special court order Monday, demanded a meditation cell.

Sisodia was produced in the special court this afternoon after his CBI custody ended.

Special judge MK Nagpal sent him to judicial custody till March 20 after noting that the CBI had not demanded further custody and that they may do so later if required.

The AAP leader has been allowed to carry medicines prescribed during his medical examination.

He has also been allowed to carry a pair of spectacles, a diary, a pen, and a copy of Bhagavad Gita.

As requested by Sisodias counsel, the court has directed the jail authorities to consider the request of keeping him in the meditation cell.

Sisodia had moved a bail application earlier in this case which will be heard by Special Judge on Mar 10.

The court sought the response of CBI on the bail application of Sisodia.

Sisodia had earlier moved the Supreme Court against the order of the CBI Special Judge but the apex court on Feb 28 refused to entertain the petition by pointing out that he had sufficient legal remedies before approaching the highest court so can make all points before the High Court, so after that, he moved before the trial Court.

Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on February 26 after about eight hours of questioning on various aspects of the excise policy for 2021-22.

According to the investigating agency, the excise policy suffered from irregularities both in its formulation and implementation.
