Tripura police has gone for a total overhaul in its top echelon ostensibly keeping in mind the next assembly elections.
There have been rejig in almost all the police wings and new bosses are now ready to take over the rein.
M Raja Murugan who was in deputation to center under the cabinet secretariat recently returned to Tripura. He has been made the ADG training.
GS Rao incumbent IGP Training has been posted as IG Crime and Intelligence.
Arindam Nath who is scheduled to retire on next October 31 and underwent by-pass heart surgery has been relieved of the pressing position of IG Law and Order and posted as IGP Administration.
Incumbent SP Special Branch Sankar Debnath has become the new SP West Tripura District. His batchmate Krishnendu Chakravertty who was AIGP Crime will be the new chief of the Special Branch.
Dilip Roy, Principal KTDS PTA, has been transferred as Commandant CIAT while Sudeshna Bhattacharjee who is presently SP SCRB , will look after the PTA matters as its Principal with additional charge. She has , however, been relieved from her previous additional charge as SP MTF.
Nabadwip Jamatia , Commandant CIAT has been psoted as SP MTF.
Bhanupada Chakrabarty , SP Khowai has come to Agartala as AIGP Crime. His batchmate Rati Ranjan Das, who was SP Sepahijala has gone to Khowai as SP.
B J Reddy who was SP West Tripura has gone to Sepahijala as SP.
Kishore Debbarma who was SP Unakoti has been sent to SP Cyber Crime. He has been replaced by Kantra Jangir.
The transfers were long awaited and according to sources the officers were carefully selected keeping in mind the emerging situations -which is going to be undoubtedly volatile in coming days- before the esnsuing Assembly elections.
This one also happens to be the major step as far as police department is concerned after new DGP Amitabh Ranjan took over charge.
