Major Asian stock market indices edged higher today, tracking Wall Street gains overnight after oil prices dropped and strong earnings lifted investor sentiment. South Korea’s Kospi index surged more than 6.4 per cent to hit another closing high of 7 thousand 385. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index gained over 1.2 per cent, China’s Shanghai Composite index rose almost 1.2 per cent, and Singapore’s Straits Times Index added over 0.1 per cent. Meanwhile, market in Japan remained shut for Constitutional Memorial Day.Major European indices were trading on a strong note today. France CAC 40 jumped 3.3 per cent, Germany’s DAX gained almost 2.8 per cent, and London’s FTSE 100 was trading 2.6 per cent up, when reports last came in.
