Maharashtra: Nomination process for 17 MLC seats concludes

The nomination process for elections to 17 seats of the Maharashtra Legislative Council concluded today, with instances of rebellion reported in several political parties ahead of the polls. The elections will be held in the constituencies of Wardha-Gadchiroli-Chandrapur, Bhandara-Gondia, Amravati, Sangli-Satara, Solapur, Ahilyanagar, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar-Jalna, Nanded, Beed-Latur-Dharashiv, Jalgaon, Thane, Nashik, Parbhani, Yavatmal, Raigad-Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg, Pune and Nagpur.
The ruling Mahayuti alliance has fielded candidates for all 17 seats, with the BJP contesting 11 seats, Shiv Sena four seats and the NCP two seats. The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has allotted eight seats to Congress, six to Shiv Sena (UBT) and three to the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction).
Voting for the Legislative Council elections will be held on June 22, with counting of votes scheduled for the same day.
